Malaysian Entrepreneur Dedicates Time to Philanthropy

Vijay Eswaran is Malaysian-born businessman and entrepreneur, and the founder and CEO of QNET, a direct based selling company in Hong Kong.

After graduating from the London School of Economics in 1984, he tried his hand at various professions in Europe before furthering his qualifications. He earned a CIMA in the UK, and then obtained an MBA from Southern Illinois University in the United States.

He eventually returned to Asia, and in 1998 co-founded the QI Group, the company that owns QNET. The QI Group is a successful e-commerce site involved in the sales of everything from luxury goods to energy. Today the company has regional offices in several Asian countries, including Thailand and Singapore, in addition to Eswaran’s native Malaysia. Dr. Eswaran is an acknowledged leader in marketing, business development,

philanthropy and investment in socially beneficial causes.

Like many entrepreneurs, Eswaran is involved in activities outside of the day to day involvement with his business. He is well known as a motivational speaker, and has spoken at universities and leadership forums worldwide on such diverse topics as business and spirituality. Through his efforts, Eswaran has also established the RYTHM Foundation, a branch of the QI Group involved in philanthropic activities in several countries. The Vijayaratnam Foundation is an arm of RYTHM dedicated to serving his home country, and through the Foundation he has worked on various projects related to youth mentoring and women’s rights. His wife, Umayal Eswaran, serves as the Chairperson of the The Vijayaratnam FoundationHe has been recognized for his efforts by Forbes Asia, which listed him as a major philanthropist in 2011.

When he’s not involved with speaking or philanthropy, Vijay Eswaran is hard at work writing. To date, he has four best selling books to his name, including the Sphere of Silence, a life management book wildly popular in many parts of Asia. He also contributes his writing talents to newspapers in Malaysia.
